So many characters!Ophelia Rose is my main character. But I have a lot of supporting characters. To be honest, I play many characters because I enjoy being able to tell other stories with other groups who otherwise I would not be able to be a part of because of Ophie’s background and status amongst her friends. BackgroundIf you had told Ophelia, a young woman from an Ishgardian middle-class household, that within a few decades she would become a true world savant and instrument of change for the world, she would have laughed, But It seems that Halone would decide a grander fate.In the limited spare time that she has, she enjoys Mahjong, Ishgardian Whiskey, reading up on her history with the help of The Scholasticate seminars and doing the best she can to continue to support the Ishgardian Restoration.A patroness of the arts and crafts of all forms, you will most likely find her listening to Wandering Minstrels and checking out Artisans Faires all over Eorzea. This of course is always after her morning training session with fellow knights.Ophelia was the widow of the late Ser Haurchefant Greystone and therefore upon the validation of their marriage received all titles and the entirety of his estate posthumously.The estate, which spans multiple locations all over Eorzea was the perfect opportunity to move into her ventures of creating business and culture while supporting and encouraging more free trade between Eorzea and Ishgard.Sitting in her late-husband's seat in the Ishgardian House of Lords, Ophelia champions the arts and the improvement of conditions for all Ishgardians from The Brume to The Pillars until recent events.

Personality:
Ophelia is kind and hospitable. To her, everyone is a friend she has yet to meet. She strives to build environments and communities that empower people and encourage them to be their best selves in all matters. This being said, she is no doormat either. Known to put down difficulties and issues with others gently or with force if necessary.Ophelia, however, is not like her late husband in the jovial and wanting to meet everyone right away; there are many times she stands in the corner and broods. But if you come up to her and talk to her, you will find a great conversationalist and one who cares about her fellow man, where she can. This, however, means she isn’t all for soft words either. She is very to the point and not afraid to speak her mind when necessary. To her ‘A true friend stabs you in the front, not the back,” which is a principle she lives by.Being a member of “The Original Thirty” — The Order of Knights Dragoons in her own right has left her with a sense of duty to protect and right those who are being abused or taken advantage of by others. People think Ophelia is frigid or that, because she’s an Ishgardian woman, she's high-maintenance. But that is actually not true. The fact of the matter is: Ophelia knows who she is, what she wants, and what she is worth, and she will not become lesser than or keep quiet to make people comfortable. If that means she loses friends in the process, it simply means they were never truly “friends” to begin with.

The Royal Family of IshgardIn the tenth year of the Seventh Astral Era, it was revealed that Ophelia, alongside the Current Lord Speaker, The Viscount de Borel, was the last living descendant of the original Royal Family of Ishgard, thus making her a True Princess of Ishgard by birthright.The Church and State, in response to this revelation, in an effort to be fully transparent regarding the hidden generations and lost truths due to the Dragonsong War, as well as honoring the newly formed Republic of Ishgard, proclaimed Ophelia the Ceremonial Duchess of Ishgard. Making her socially the second-highest-ranking peer in all of the realm, behind the Lord Speaker.

Viola was recently accepted to Sharlayan as a student of The Baldesion to study Aetherology. She is currently studying the aftereffects of the land following the Garlean conflicts, including the area known as The Burn and the Dalmascan lands.Botanist and Aetherologist by formal trade, Viola has come to embrace all things of nature. But don’t let her stern look and pragmatic behavior fool you. She is a woman who loves the world and all its creations. She recently moved to the Dynamis provinces in the hopes of learning some new trades and meeting new people.

Artoriel was born beneath vaulted stone and impossible expectations.The bards would tell you he is the son of Count Edmont de Fortemps, current Lord to one of Ishgard’s oldest High Houses, a knight raised in snow and steel while he and Coerthas still remembered green fields. They would remind you that he stood through the wreckage of the Dragonsong War, that he bore grief without spectacle, that he learned early how silence can be armor. In the older stories, he is a secondary figure—steady, dutiful, almost too composed to be dangerous.That is the myth and in many ways the truth. But the man behind all of the bardsongs is far more interesting.Where his forebears mastered lances and law, he mastered ledgers and leverage. As Lord of House Fortemps and eventually House Stormslayer, he redefined nobility not as inheritance but as stewardship. As Lord Fortemps, he continued the tradition of Lords who tend to their households, but at the same time ensured that they would not fall victim to the same struggles of pride, war, and financial strife that had plagued House Fortemps for almost three generations prior.With his quiet support, the Stormslayer Trading Company transformed from an ambitious venture into an intercontinental force, merchant charters were negotiated with sovereigns, and artisans were elevated to the rank of masters. PersonalityArtoriel is very much a rare breed of man in Ishgardian culture. Albeit, you wouldn’t notice that immediately out of the gate. Known as The Frostwall Knight for his dry humor, pragmatism, and realist nature, which are commonly mistaken for frigidity, Artoirel loves to let people believe he is Painfully Ishgardian. In reality, he is still very much Edmont de Fortemps’ son: Kind, hospitable, and a firm believer in systemic change that can only be done by people, not governments.His love for the arts and engineering softens him, and he is happy to talk at great length about anything involving those two topics. Many close to him realize that the nature he has is primarily his attempts to break a scarcity mindset instilled in him from his youth and young adulthood, as he survived The Calamity and the harsh years of The Dragonsong War.His relationship with his wife and family has always been complicated. But even then, he is very much a family-first person in terms of priorities as Lord, husband, and father. But do not let his quiet nature fool you. He is ready to fight and stand on any necessary ground for his family should the need arise.He will, without any hesitation, proclaim his love for Ophelia, calling her "The air in his lungs and the blood that runs through his veins." A sentiment that Ophelia shares in kind.

(Which Ophelia accidentally sank and helped build his second one in apology.) As a result of this tutelage, he now develops airships and seafaring safety measures to help those traveling move with safety and confidence. He has the knowledge and skill to create siege weapons and many necessary tools of war, but he refuses to share those secrets unless the need is just and dire due to his desire to live in peace for as long as possible.High House/International Politics: While he hates it at great length, politics is a part of his culture and upbringing. But tread carefully if you engage him on these topics, you may accidentally get humbled, or worse, ignored.Painting and Artistic Architecture: His ultimate guilty pleasure is painting. Taught to him in secret by his mother, as it was her quiet passion. Although his mother was a big proponent of teaching Artoriel all the things required to be the incomparable Lord Fortemps he is today, the one thing she made sure to pass on was that same mutual love of art in its forms, giving her son the nickname of “Art,” which he uses still today while moving through merchant and common circles.Dueling: Although he hates war, he still trains physically daily and is a strong proponent of non-life-threatening duels to resolve matters of honor or serious disagreement. His duels with his wives (first and second) are known in Ishgardian bardic lore as duels not just of the heart, but as a foreshadowing for the future that would come of the Lord of House Fortemps.

Background
The Fierce House of Stormslayer was originally established as a Barony Mercantile Household, pledged under House Hallenarte as the Family is 2nd Cousins to the current family line. Their specialty has always been in libations and fabric trades.Collaboration through trade has always been a part of the Stormslayers ethos as they became allies with House Fortemps when the Stormslayers borrowed some money to create a shared winery in Wineport before the Isolation and the Calamity. The Winery and Brewery remains today and is the home of the now Eorzean Famous Greystone Whiskey, Aged 28 Years.The Stormslayers rose to respect within Ishgardian Society by being, for the last 80 years, the wine distributors for the Holy Orthodox Church of Ishgard and all holy services. After the Dragonsong War, the family was allowed to sell their wine to the public, provided they still continued to provide wine for the church’s needs during the year.

While most of the current line of the family are more culturally pious, Ophelia and Viola are still known to be active members of Church life and affairs.The Stormslayer’s carry what is known as the “Hallenarte Gift,” which is that they have Aethersight, which takes the form of being able detect the presence of Aetheric Auras and Aetheric colors.Ishgardians are known for their limited capabilities in Aetherial arts, so when a household shows that they have abilities, they are usually conscripted into the High Houses to be of service. The Stormslayers, however, are a huge exception as they received their abilities naturally and were already related to a High House.

Greystone House - Former Estate of Greystone-Stormslayer (Crystal | Zalera)

The House of Greystone-Stormslayer was established during the last few years of the Sixth Umbral Age. The house is today considered a “Combined House”. Due to an array of circumstances, Ophelia was required to marry Haurchefant, and in doing so, he took her household estate and titles. She and the family, in turn, came under the protection of House Fortemps and their network of resources. Combination houses were rare before & during the Dragonsong War, but now a widespread practice in Ishgardian House culture post-war.The House was established by the late Lord Haurchefant Greystone and the Lady Ophelia Stormslayer upon their marriage. They married at the ages of 22 and remained together for six years, surviving the calamity until Haurchefant’s death during the last few years of the Dragonsong War at the Age of 28.In the years post, Ophelia would go on to establish the household as a Mercantile High House, now even surpassing her house counterparts, Fortemps and Hallenarte, in size and services to Ishgard and beyond. The house’s main headquarters is now in La Noscea with outposts in Ishgard, Kugane, Thavnair, and Old Sharlayan.With the revelation of Ophelia's Royal Bloodline, the House of Greystone-Stormslayer was absorbed into the Royal Household, but Ophelia and Haurchefant's marriage subsequently dissolved on undisclosed grounds. Their marital paperwork is currently sealed in the Church Archives.

Giving the family great leverage in matters of trade and social welfare.As with all traditional Peerages, upon marriage, the Coat of Arms changes to include the house that is coming into the Royal Family. In this case, the Red Unicorn of House Fortemps is added to the Coat of Arms. The Royal Family Coat of Arms changes, while the state flag of Ishgard remains representative of the Republic as a whole.
